The genre of this film is a comedy/drama/romance. The genre can established and understood from the first few seconds of the film trailer due to setting and the emotion of the characters, the ups and downs of the characters emotions show how the film alternates from the drama to the comedy. The soundtrack along side this also really helps you establish the genre as it goes from slow paced to a fast paced rhythm. This film is more of a teen drama as you can see from the trailer that the majority of the characters are in there teens, knowing this helps you predict what the narrative could be. In my film trailer I want to the genre to be quite noticeable.
LOL has a generic narrative for a teen drama, teen girl is left broken hearted by her boyfriend but is then surprised to find out that her best friend has feelings for her. Most teen dramas have a narrative that focuses on this or something similar. For my trailer the narrative won't be as generic as this and I want it to be more unique. The target audience for this film is quite obvious as the majority of the casts age are 16/18 which suggest the audience will be for people around this age. The target audience for my film trailer are teenagers therefore the cast will also have to be teenagers.
The music in this trailer is quite slow which corresponds with the genre of the film. It matches well with the drama tone of the film trailer and the with the narrative. The rhythm and speed of the music gets faster when there is more action and drama going on in the trailer. For my film trailer I want a dramatic song playing.
At the start of the trailer there is a lot of slow motion shots, this immediately suggest the drama in the film. A lot of the shots in the film are close ups because the film focuses on emotion as one of its main conventions which can be seen through the trailer. Closeups help see the characters emotions and expressions which is something I want in my film trailer.
There is a lot of slow motion in the film trailer which is something I don't really want to focus on in my film trailer.
